PLC RECRUITMENT is actively seeking an experienced Pipette Calibration Technician for a highly reputable organization in Lethbridge, Alberta. Our clients laboratory is a national center for disease control and their research directly contributes to the health and protection of animals through diagnostic testing and research initiatives. These services are vital in providing the tests required for the export of animals and animal products for trade. This is a two month contract position that allows for hands on learning opportunity with a and lab manager who is willing to train in a prestige state of the art laboratory.

A Typical Day Will Include:
  • Utilizing the latest technology to completely calibrate, (on the job training) repair and perform preventive maintenance on all brand name manufacturer pipettes in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for water based testing
  • Demonstrating the ability to calibrate and repair a wide variety of single and multi-channel pipettes and repeaters
  • Works with basic laboratory instrumentation, as well as operates computer-based applications utilized in a laboratory environment
  • Disposing of freezer and fridge contents using appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves, lab coat)- PPE is provided
To be successful in this position here’s what you need:
  • Candidates should have at least a two year diploma and/or 3 years of demonstrated experience in a related field. Students in a comparable program are encouraged to apply
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm to provide excellent customer service skills
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to write legibly and strong attention to detail
  • Computer abilities and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
  • Must have organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret directions, lift up to 50 lbs. and stand or sit for extended periods of time
Must have and maintain:
  • Reliable transportation with current vehicle registration & insurance
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must meet the requirements for a Reliability Sector Security Clearance check. Preference will be given to those candidates who are in possession of a valid clearance certificate
Schedule and Compensation:

Our client offers a Monday to Friday and 8:00AM to 4:00 PM schedule. This position offers 37.5 hours and will not include weekends. Wages will commensurate with experience and credentials at the time of application.
